Community Partnerships
The University of Newcastle is providing opportunities that have real-world benefits through meaningful partnerships and community connectedness.
For more than 50 years, the University of Newcastle has worked with community and industry to support the growth and enhancement of our students. These partnerships promote collaboration that delivers innovation and impact, helps support the economic, social and cultural transformation of strong regional communities, and allows our students to engage in practical, work-integrated learning to gain valuable hands-on experience.
Newcastle Jets
As the region’s leader in education, we have a long term partnership with one of Newcastle’s sporting leaders – Newcastle Jets – to promote the need to find a balance between work, study and life.
Central Coast Mariners
We're proud to partner with the Central Coast Mariners, the home team of our Central Coast (Ourimbah) campus.
Newcastle Writers Festival
The University of Newcastle is a founding sponsor of the Newcastle Writers Festival, the city's premier cultural event. Our academic staff contribute to the festival by providing unique program ideas, participate in panel discussions and facilitate sessions. Our creative writing students make invaluable connections with nationally recognised writers and have the opportunity to attend masterclasses, contribute as panelists and widely share their work.
Supercars
With a focus on work-integrated learning, our partnership with Supercars offers students the opportunity to undertake exclusive practical experience at one of Newcastle’s biggest events.
Surfest
Through our partnerships with Surfest, we're supporting young people in chasing their dreams and helping to showcase the beautiful city of Newcastle to the world.
Academy of Sport
It doesn’t have to be one or the other when it comes to sport and study. Through our exclusive education partnership with the Hunter Academy of Sport and the Central Coast Academy of Sport, we’re supporting the dreams of high school athletes and preparing them for a career after sport.
The Big Picture Fest
We partner each year with the Big Picture Fest. This major international street art activation celebrates Newcastle’s history and creative culture, bringing together world class artists to work alongside our amazing local talent on large scale murals in the city.
Newcastle Knights
Through our partnership with the Newcastle Knights, we’re deeply committed to improving community health and wellbeing. This partnership represents an opportunity to bring people together to learn, share stories and celebrate success.
The University of Newcastle acknowledges the traditional custodians of the lands within our footprint areas: Awabakal, Darkinjung, Biripai, Worimi, Wonnarua, and Eora Nations. We also pay respect to the wisdom of our Elders past and present.
